September 11th Memorial Flight from
the Coatesville VA Medical Center
For our annual 9/11 flight, we made
arrangements to fly from the Coatesville VA Hospital
|
Unloading “America One” at the
Coatesville VA.
|
All spread out in the confines of the
courtyard. |
Starting to inflate. Yes, those are trees
right next to the balloon.
|
Yes, the canopy of the trees is directly
above the balloon. |
Both sides….
|
|
Harry Collison (Flighthouse Pilot) is
given the job of inflation. He comes up with the idea of an “inflate and
drag” to slide “America One” away from the trees during inflation. |
As you can see, it worked perfectly. |
We get ready for launch. Jamie the
crew guy at left. |
We ease out of the tight slot. I am
cautiously looking over my should at the balloon eating trees. |
|
Flying over the new St Peters Church
shortly before landing. Harry piloted “America One” for everything but
takeoff, now officially certifying him as a pilot on the aircraft. Thank you
Harry, for a job well done as usual. |
