The entrance to Pompeii- One arch is
for people to go through the other is for carriages.

A bread making shop. |
Here you can see the separation line
between original structure and restored structure. |

Group shot in front of the Pompeian Forum
with *Vesuvius (Vesuvio) in the background. |
We saw several healthy looking dogs
hanging out on the grounds of Pompeii. They seemed really content. They
would just lie down wherever...
|
Part of the Temple of Jupiter. |
Several restored columns the brick bits
are the restoration. |
One of the bodies that was unburied in
Pompeii. When archeologists would find a cavity in the ash they would fill
it with plaster and then excavate it. The plaster cast was then removed. The
skeleton remains intact. On this one, you can even see teeth! |

Pompeii. |
Mosaic floor. |
Room with frescoes |

Real Roman lead pipe! I was surprised to
see this right where we could walk on it. Although, Antonio could have been
making it up. |
|
End of the villa. |
This was a restaurant. Comparable to a
McDonald's of today. |
Beautiful mosaic in an unidentified
villa. |
|
Part of a bath house. |
A ceiling in a bathhouse |
Forum and Vesuvius in the background. |
Driving up the side of Vesuvius is
interesting. Switchbacks and cars going the other way. The view looking down
was worth it though.
|
|
Near the top, there is a place where
you can park your car and walk the rest of the way to the top. |
It was really cold and windy up there so
we just took a few photos and came back down. |
